Self reflection 3 Acrylic on recycled wood 55 x 81 cm
Self reflection is a group of paintings of my body painted from my point of view.
They are a response to the classic paintings by male artists who have been portraying nude women as objects instead of subjects for centuries, according to the theory of the male gaze coined by Laura Muley in her article Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema. In Self reflection 3, I present four portraits of my body: three from the perspective of my gaze and a fourth that moves away from
me and bends down to see me with her own eyes. Challenging the audience with her gaze. .
